It’s also a unique movement bringing together startups, investors, policymakers and community builders.
Our mission is to make France one of the greatest places in the world to launch and grow global tech companies for our future.
The Mission French Tech is a public administration that implements support programs for French start-ups and leads a network of structures to boost the French tech ecosystem in all territories. It is made up of a national team and a French Tech network to implement all its actions. Mission French Tech was created in 2013 to support the structuring and growth of the French start-up ecosystem, both in France and internationally. It is responsible for deploying public policies aimed at start-ups and federating this ecosystem nationally and internationally. There are 115 French Tech Capitales and Communities, 17 Capitales and 31 Communities in France, and 67 Communities abroad, made up of 1,400 volunteers, 70% of whom are entrepreneurs.
What is the difference between “La Mission French Tech” and “La French Tech“? La Mission French Tech is a state administration that deploys the “La French Tech” brand, owned by the French state. It is responsible for supporting and mobilizing the French start-up ecosystem, in France and internationally. “French Tech” is the term used to designate the movement of 25,000 French start-ups, present in France and internationally. It is often used to refer to start-ups and all the players in the ecosystem: investors, support structures (incubators, gas pedals, dedicated associations, etc.), etc. Since 2017, the French Tech ecosystem has experienced dazzling growth, placing it among the most dynamic ecosystems on the planet in 2021, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization. In 2022, French technology companies raised €13.5 billion, putting them in first place in the European Union (according to EY’s 2022 report).
Thanks to this success, the French technology sector enjoys genuine international visibility and recognition, particularly among foreign investors. The French Tech International Communities are groups of volunteer French or Francophile entrepreneurs who represent the Mission French Tech internationally. Their actions promote the French tech ecosystem alongside the French institutional network in each country. As a non-profit organization, all members of La French Tech International Communities are dedicated volunteers, committed to fostering innovation and collaboration in the tech sector worldwide.
